Holzheimer brings home hardware from state meet

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta's Katie Holzheimer brought two ribbons home from the 2012 Minnesota State Girls' Track and Field Championships held Friday and Saturday at Hamline University in St. Paul.

Holzheimer placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.73. In Friday's preliminaries, she had a time of 12.55.

Holzhiemer finished sixth in the 200-meter dash in 26.15 after recording a 26.03 in the preliminaries.

Along with Beth Holland, Sydney Engebretson, and Adrianela Mendez, Holzheimer was part of the Tigers' 4X100 relay team that took eighth place in 51.51.

MaKenzie Smith finished 11th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:31.54. She placed 13th in the 3200 with a time of 12:16.02.

Also competing at the state meet was Abby Travis in the pole vault, recording an 8-03.00.
