Horgen honored for dedication to choral music
Adair Horgen, of Morris, will receive the Northwest District Advocate for Choral Excellence Award from the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota.
The ACE award is designed to celebrate the efforts of people across Minnesota who do outstanding work for their communities, serving the choral art, and also to "bring to light" the creative ways people have nurtured choral singing in Minnesota, according to the association.
Because of the work Horgen has done in the Morris community and surrounding area, Morris Area choir instructor John Kleinwolterink submitted her name for consideration.
After learning of all she does, the board of ACDA of Minnesota agreed that she would be most deserving of the award and thought it important to recognize her and thank her for the work she does with students and with the community to advance choral singing, according to the association.
For many years, Horgen has been accompanying for the Morris Area schools and the University of Minnesota, Morris. She has also been involved in the community with such projects as "Adair, Della and Friends" and the Morris Community PlayRights.
Kleinwolterink said he felt her efforts and accomplishments exemplify the ACE award criteria, and submitted her name last year.
Horgen and several of her friends and family will join ACDA of Minnesota for their awards banquet on Friday, Aug. 6, at the Legends Golf Club in Prior Lake. She will receive her award and celebrate with others from around the state.
