I-94, Highway 10, Highway 210 closed in west central Minnesota
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol closed the following roads in west central Minnesota at 4 p.m. due to strong winds, blowing snow and whiteout conditions:
- Interstate 94 from Moorhead to Alexandria
- Highway 10 from Moorhead to Detroit Lakes
- Highway 210 from Breckenridge to Fergus Falls
Interstate 94, Highway 10 and Highway 210 will remain closed until further notice.
Motorists are advised not to travel until conditions improve and MnDOT and the Minnesota State Patrol open the roads.
Other highways in west central Minnesota are in hazardous condition, and no travel is advised throughout the region. Plows will be pulled at dark for safety reasons due to the low visibility.
Motorists should plan accordingly. When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or sentenced to 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
