Jergenson's 1-hitter lifts Tigers over Melrose
Bryce Jergenson turned in a superlative performance, allowing just one hit and striking out seven as the Morris/Chokio-Alberta blanked Melrose 6-0 on Tuesday in Morris.
Jergenson worked all seven innings, allowing only a single to left by Austin Shoenberg in the third inning, and also worked out a bases-loaded jam in that inning to preserve his shutout.
Jergenson was tough at the plate, too, with two hits and scoring three runs. Noah Grove doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice, and Corey Storck also had a pair of hits.
Nate Anderson doubled in two runs and Gage Backman also drove in a run.
The Tigers are 1-1 in the West Central Conference and 2-1 overall. They play Sauk Centre on Thursday at 5 p.m., then take on Pelican Rapids in the second game of the four-team Morris/C-A tournament at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
MACCRAY and Breckenridge play Friday’s 5 p.m. game, and the four teams play again Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
