Jr. High Owls end up in 20-20 tie with Browns Valley

The Owls got off to a slow start, but picked up their game in the 2nd quarter playing hard the entire time in the last game of the year against Browns Valley.

Browns Valley scored first and took the lead 6-0 in the first quarter. Later in the first quarter Hancock scored on a 27 yard pass by Taylor Holleman connecting with Patrick Koehl for a touchdown. The two point conversion was no good leaving the score 6-6 after the first quarter. Early in the second quarter Browns Valley scored another touchdown with a successful two point conversion giving them the lead 14-6. Later in the second, Hancock tied the game on a 10-yard pass by Taylor Holleman connecting with Koehl for the second time. The two point conversion was successful with Holleman connecting with Evan Nelson on a pass tying the game 14-14 at half.

The start of the third quarter saw Browns Valley scoring again on a touchdown giving them the lead 20-14. Hancock responded on the next drive with a 60 yard touchdown pass by Holleman connecting with Anthony Koehl. The two point conversion was no good tying the game 20-20. Time ran out leaving the game at a tie 20-20.

"The boys played excellent football and improved so much from the beginning of the season," commented coach Bedel. "I would like to thank all of the parents and fans for supporting the team this season. Also a huge thanks to the players for committing their time and giving so much effort towards the sport. Everyone did a great job this season. Thanks also goes out to the volunteers who helped with the chains and stats."

Defensively for the game Ross Ascheman had 3 solo and 4 assist tackles, Taylor Holleman had 2 solos and 7 assists, Patrick Koehl had 1 solo, 1 sack and 7 assists, Jerid Berning had 4 solos and 9 assists, Philip Schaefer had 1 solo and 5 assists, Anthony Koehl had 1 solo and 10 assists, Jerrid Jepma had 1 solo, 1 interception and 11 assists, Seth Nelson had 1 solo and 4 assists, Evan Nelson had 2 assists and Micah Baker had 9 assists.

This game's winner of Hancock Co-op offensive line player goes to Jerid Berning who did a great job blocking, and the Hancock Co-op defensive line player goes to Taylor Holleman. Coach Bedel gave offensive player of the game to Patrick Koehl who had 2 receiving touchdowns and defensive player to Jerrid Jepma who had 12 tackles and 1 interception.
