Following her Cuyahoga education, Kate worked for 20 years in credit and collections. In 1980 Kate met Dale Livingston through a Coast Guard friend. The couple was united in marriage on August 24, 1985 in Strongsville, Ohio. Following their marriage, they moved to Shakopee, Minnesota where Kate continued her education at Normandale Community College earning her associate degree in accounting.
