Kenneth V. Skoog, 76, of Wolf Lake, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 14, 2008.

Kenneth Virgil Skoog was born to Olaf and Saima (Hillukka) Skoog on Nov. 7, 1931 in Wolf Lake Township. Kenny married Judith Erickson on Oct. 13, 1956 in Detroit, Mich. They made their home in the Wolf Lake area. Thirteen children were born to this union. Kenny was a member of the Laestadian Lutheran Church of Menahga. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends. His home was open to all. Kenny spent most of his life trucking and farming. He retired in 1994.

Kenny is survived by his 13 children, Carol (Kevin) Hillstrom of Corcoran, Minn.; Mary (Charles) Knott of Park Rapids; Ronald (Sharon) Skoog of Wolf Lake, Joyce Skoog of Menahga, Charlotte (Olli) Haho of Corcoran, Sandra Skoog of Maple Grove, Minn., Mark (Cheryl) Skoog of Wolf Lake, Beth (Douglas) Hillstrom of Hanover, Minn., Kathy (Brent) Hillstrom of Buffalo, Minn., Brad (Rachel) Skoog of Wolf Lake, Jean Parks of Buffalo, Minn., Jane Skoog of Wolf Lake, and Daniel (Tina) Skoog of Wolf Lake; 58 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers, Art (Hazel) Skoog, Roy (Mary) Skoog and Harvey (Edna) Skoog; one sister, Esther (John) Martin; and one sister-in-law, Elaine Skoog.

Preceding him in death were his loving wife Judy; his parents; three infant grandchildren; and two brothers.

Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the Laestadian Lutheran Church of Menahga, with a 7 p.m. prayer service led by Steve Kallinen and Ron Honga.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Laestadian Lutheran Church of Menahga with Jon Bloomquist officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Kermit Ylitalo, Robert Keranen, Ernie Kallinen, Reno Juntunen, Duane Hillukka and Walter Muhonen, Active casket bearers are Ken's sons, Ronald Skoog, Mark Skoog, Brad Skoog and Daniel Skoog. Interment will be at Balmi Cemetery, with committal by Steven Haataja. Arrangements were entrusted to Wevley Funeral Home of Sebeka.
