Klobuchar will be at UMM at 7:15 p.m., Thursday, at the Welcome Center.

Klobuchar will start Veterans Day by presenting the Congressional Gold Medal to Jean Roberts, on behalf of her deceased sister, Ruth Roberts, who was a pilot in World War II as a WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots).

The WASP was a pioneering organizations of civilian female pilots employed to fly military aircraft under the direction of the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Nearly 1,100 female pilots flew under the auspices of the WASP, each freeing a male pilot for combat service and duties. The WASP flew over 60 million miles in all, in every type of military aircraft.

Earlier this year, President Obama and the Congress awarded the surviving members of the WASP the Congressional Gold Medal in honor of their service. As the next of kin to Ruth Roberts, Jean Roberts is entitled to receive the medal on her sister's behalf.

Later in the morning, Klobuchar will speak at the Minnesota State Veterans Day Program in Inver Grove Heights.

On Thursday afternoon, Klobuchar will be the keynote speaker at the annual Veterans Day Program sponsored by the Wadena-Deer Creek school district. She will then visits the communities of Ashby, Breckenridge and Wheaton to present veterans with U.S. flags that flew over the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC.

On Thursday evening, Klobuchar will meet with students at the University of Minnesota in Morris.

On Friday, Klobuchar will visit Ortonville, Madison, Ivanhoe and Granite Falls in southwestern Minnesota to present veterans with U.S. flags that flew over the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC. She will also tour the Schwan Food Company, which is based in Marshall.
