Klobuchar staff in Morris today for farm bill discussion

Staff members from the office of U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., will be in Morris at 3 p.m. today at the AgCountry Auditorium at the West Central Research and Outreach Center to take comments from farmers and residents on the 2008 farm bill and to look ahead to reauthorization in 2012.

Forums were held last week in Austin and Mankato and others are planned for this week, including meetings in Willmar, Pipestone, Little Falls and Virginia.

"This is an important opportunity to hear directly from Minnesota farmers and rural residents. We need to know what's working, and what's not, with implementation of the 2008 farm bill so we can make improvements when it comes up for reauthorization in 2012,'' said, Klobuchar, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee.

Dave Frederickson, a native of Murdock and Klobuchar's agriculture and rural issues outreach director, will participate.
