LaRoque, Combellick pace Cougars

Jenny LaRoque headlined the University of Minnesota, Morris Cougars at the UW-River Falls track and field meet, taking first place in the high jump with a mark of 1.55m. Minnesota Morris had 14 top-three finishes on Saturday, Feb. 8, taking second place in the women's meet and third in the men's.
LaRoque out jumped her teammate Carly Denler, who took second with a height of 1.40m. Alicia Doerr had three separate top-three finishes. She was third in the pole vault with a height of 2.90m, third in the long jump with a distance of 4.95m and third in the 55m with a time of 7.81. Anna Peterson was third in the 400m with a time of 1:03.54. Linda Keller was third in the 3000m, finishing in a time of 10:23.60.
Leading the men was Chalmer Combellick, who won the mile in 4:20.79. Ryan DeRoeck was second in the high jump with a mark of 1.86m just .06m better than teammate Alex Ukkelburg who took third. Josh Lozancich was second in the 400m with a time of 54.24. Finishing just behind Lozancich was Zach Smith who third in the 400m with a time of 54.26. Leandro Dower finished the 200m in a time of 22.84 which was good enough for second. Also taking second was Caleb Schneider who was second in the 3000m with a time of 9:36.67.
Next up for the Cougars track and field is the Bison Open in Fargo on Saturday, Feb. 15. Next Saturday is the final meet before the UMAC Championships in Duluth on Saturday, Feb. 22.
