The University of Minnesota, Morris men's soccer team avoided overtime with a 1-0 win over the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Playing with only 10 men after an 86th minute red card, Ebrima Badgie scored on a header from Devin Chuba with eight seconds remaining in regulation to save the Cougars and give them the win.
Morris was staring at an overtime period and would have had to play it down a man in addition. Jacob Borash made seven saves to earn the clean sheet.
In a game that featured six yellow cards and a red in addition to 21 fouls, it was the Cougars who were able to prevail.
In the first half the Yellowjackets outshot Morris 10-6, but Borash came up with four saves.
In the second half there was a 14-3 shot difference, but in the end it would not matter as in 90th minute Chuba crossed the ball to Badgie who headed it in the back of the net for the 1-0 win.
