Late buses returning to Park Rapids Schools
The Park Rapids Schools "late buses" will be on the road again, come fall.
Three buses will run, transporting not just athletes but all students in the district involved in co-curricular activities.
Buses will depart from Century School at 5:15 p.m. and the high school at 5:30 p.m.
The Park Rapids Education and Activities Foundation and St. Joseph's Area Health Services have made a two-year commitment to fund the $20,000 per year service, superintendent Glenn Chiodo reports.
Response to a survey sent out in late May showed a "significant number" of parents in favor of the service.
"The Park Rapids School District realizes that co-curricular and after school activities are a very important aspect of a child's educational experience," Chiodo stated. "We would like to encourage all students to have an opportunity to participate in these various activities."
The service will be available to any student attending an organized activity after school, such as tutoring, Community Education classes, church activities, Boy or Girl Scouts, St. Joseph's 8th Hour and others.
