LAURINE ELLEN (FYNBOH) COOK

Laurine Ellen (Fynboh) Cook was born on June 22, 1922 in the Sebeka area to Carl and Cora (Pedersen) Fynboh. The family moved to a farm outside of Donnelly in 1936. After graduating from Alberta High School in 1940, she married Robert Cook and settled on the Alberta farm where they raised their four children. They moved to Morris when they retired in 1990. Laurine spent her life helping her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a very bright and creative woman who could do almost anything. She loved a project - anything from painting and plastering, sewing, baking, gardening and carpentry. She welcomed all friends and family into her home with a hot meal and she always had coffee ready. Her good humor and quick wit made her a favorite wherever she went. She played games of all kinds throughout her life and especially enjoyed a game of cards or dice. She worked on crossword puzzles every day and had just completed another book when she died. She was the rock of the family, holding everyone together through good times and bad. She was the kind of mother every child should have. She left us on Thursday, May 23 just one month shy of her 91st birthday. She is survived by her four children, Laurie (Kenneth) Kaehler, Petaluma, Calif.; Linda Cook, Morris; Thomas (Diana) Cook, Spokane, Wash.; and Bradley Cook, Morris; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way; one brother Paul (Marianne) Fynboh; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy (Carrol) Amundson; many nieces and nephews and her best friend, Honey Boy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cook; grandson, Justin Cook; six brothers and their wives, Howard (Stacia), John (Kathleen), Lawrence (Hazel), Ralph (Harriet), Robert (Marcella), Raymond (Evelyn) and one sister and her husband, Helen V. Lawson (Larry). A memorial service will be held at The Federated Church in Morris at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
