For the second consecutive year, Stefan Lemke has qualified to swim in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle individual events at the 2009 State Class A Swimming and Diving Championships beginning this Friday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.

The host Hutchinson Tigers won the team championship with Fergus Falls coming in second.

Coach Tim Brooks was pleased as his swimmers set season-best times in 11 different individual events, as well as in all three relay events.

In the 200 medley relay, the team of Otto Kildegaard (backstroke, 34.00), Roy Reese (breaststroke, 39.76), Gage Anderson (butterfly, 38.70), and Jacob Erickson (freestyle, 27.88) came in with a season-best time of 2:20.34.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Austin Schieler cut 5.05 seconds to finish with a season-best time of 2:04.76. Also, Lemke finished second in this event with a season-best time of 1:48.35. This qualifies Lemke for the State meet in this event as well as lowering his own MAHS team record time in this event.
