Funeral services for Lester "Buster" Willert were held Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria. He was laid to rest at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Chokio on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009.
Buster was born July 4, 1924 in Boyden, Iowa to August and Louise Willert. His family moved to Chokio in 1933 where they farmed. On Sept. 10,1942, he was united in marriage to Lenore Grossman at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chokio by Father Hennenkamp. Following the wedding they made their home in Chokio. He worked for Olson's Implement in Chokio for many years. He moved his family to Morris in 1957. He worked for Stimmler Implement in Morris for 42 years until he retired at age 62. He continued to help the area farmers with their farm equipment for years after.
Buster and Lenore moved to Alexandria in 1998. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He so enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren showing them how to fish and to just enjoy the outdoors.
Buster died peacefully at his home on Dec. 1, 2009, of heart problems. He was 85 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Lenore of Alexandria and nine children: Jerald of Floral City, Fla., Dianne Elmer of Alexandria, Ronnie of Lisbon, Colo., Connie Kolden of Mound, Pat Prasky of Champlin, Jim of Alexandria, Bob of Alexandria, Larry of San Diego, Calif. and Kristi of Denver Colo., 23 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, his daughter Catherine Joos, grandson Derek Elmer and great grandaughter Emily Prasky.
