Letter: Poppy Program updates to help all service members
The American Legion Poppy Program has been updated for the first time in the program history. The $2 million collected annually can be used to active service members in need in addition to veterans.
Poppy funds can only be used to provide support for our veterans and members of our armed forces. The poppy is a symbol to open public hearts and inspire them to donate.
American Legion members were at Willie’s on May 16 and 17 accepting donations to our poppy funds, which will be used for the veterans program.
From May 19 to 23 the Auxiliary will be on Main Street and businesses in Morris and the surrounding towns of Alberta, Cyrus, and Donnelly accepting donations.
We would appreciate Auxiliary members to help with this project. We are also looking for new members to join this American Legion Auxiliary.
