Letters to the Editor
I am writing to thank the community of Morris and the surrounding areas for supporting our efforts at Lakeland Hospice & Home Care. We are an organization with two separate agencies to serve people with loving, compassionate care.
We provide in-home health care for patients who are in need of services following an injury, hospitalization, surgery or other illness. Our second agency, Lakeland Hospice, provides hospice care, which serves patients who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.
As of Aug. 1, we have eliminated the Home Care service in the Morris and surrounding area. However, Lakeland Hospice will continue to serve end-of-life patients and their families in the Morris and surrounding communities.
Many people don't realize that hospice care is provided wherever the patient resides - their home or apartment, assisted living center, adult foster care facilities and nursing homes. While Lakeland Hospice occasionally provides services to patients residing in the Courage Cottage, a licensed adult foster care in Morris, there is no business affiliation between the two entities. The Courage Cottage is owned and staffed by Stevens County Medical Center.
Lakeland Hospice & Home Care has provided hospice services to West Central Minnesota and two counties in North and South Dakota for over 25 years.
