The Morris Lions Club honored Don Groth with the Melvin Jones Fellowship and introduced past and new officers.
Groth has been a member of the Morris Lions Club since February 1971. He has been active with the Fall Sports Banquet, work nights, Bingo, World Service Day and was instrumental in the first Lions Radio Show.
Nearing his 86th birthday on July 12, Don is still an active member. The Lions logo is "We Serve", Don has done just that.
The Melvin Jones Fellowship recognizes a commitment to humanitarian work. It is not an award in the tradition of Lions awards presented for specific accomplishments.
The fellowship is an honor given to individuals who contribute the equivalent of $1,000 to Lions Club International Foundation, and persons for whom such donations are made by others.
The fellowship is the foundation's highest honor and represents humanitarian qualities such as generosity, compassion, and concern for the less fortunate.
Melvin Jones Fellows receive a lapel pin and a personalized wall plaque in honor of their commitment to helping others.
