Dr. R. G. Leuty, mayor of Morris, contributed to the "Little Red Stocking" fund appeal which is now in progress. The little girl holding the "Little Red Stocking" fund container for her father in the lobby of the post office was Gretchen, the youngest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Leuty. Mrs. Allen Edson heads the Children's Home Society in Stevens County.
Kolling Motors in this city now has the direct dealership for Dodge and Plymouth in this area, it is announced by D. J. (Pete) Kolling. Prior to this time the Dodge-Plymouth agency in Morris has been a subdealership under the Alexandria dealer.
One of the largest throngs of shoppers and visitors which has been in Morris for any Wampum Day since this series of weekly trade promotions was inaugurated six months ago is expected to crowd the city Wednesday. The big reason, naturally, is the fact that the Wampum jackpot is at a record high of $450. And who wouldn't welcome such a windfall, particularly at this season of the year?
A. H. Ferrell, Minneapolis, a former Morris resident and many years ago a member of the Morris Tribune staff, was honored at the meeting of Sunset Lodge, A. F. and A. M. at Montevideo Friday evening when he was presented with his 50-year Masonic pin by Grand Master George Christie of Red Lake Falls. Attending the affair from Morris were H. B. Olson, W. J. Lee, Max Harris and J. C. Morrison.

Mayor Chester Larsen wields a mean pair of scissors to cut the ribbon Friday morning at the official opening of the new Gibson Discount Center in Morris. Mayor Larsen was accompanied at the ceremony by Pat Meyers, floor manager, Dale Wiederholt, store manager, Nate West of Fergus Falls group manager, and Bernie Campbell, soft goods buyer from the Omaha office of the company.
Participating in ground-breaking ceremonies last Wednesday to officially launch construction work on Phase II of the library on the University of Minnesota, Morris campus were Mrs. Barbara McGinnis, of the library staff; Rep. Delbert Anderson of Starbuck, Rep. Sam Barr of Ortonville, Laird Barber, of the UMM staff; Russell DuBois, head librarian at the UMM; Provost John Imholte, Senator-elect Charlie Berg of Chokio, and State Senator Cliff Benson of Ortonville.

Coke ads were run regularly in the Morris newspapers in the 1950s, such as this one. Coke had a bottling company in Morris. The Morris public school bus garage is home to the Coke bottling company building.
