MORRIS – The eighth annual L.T.D. Motorcycle Memorial Tour will kick off in Appleton at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20. In 2012, more than 650 riders participated in the event.

Any local riders who would like to ride to Appleton as a group in the morning should meet at the Morris Armory at 7:30 a.m. The group will be leaving at 7:45 a.m. sharp.

After leaving the fairgrounds, the route will take riders through Milan, Watson, Montevideo, Clarkfield, Marshall, Canby, Madison, Ortonville, Clinton-Graceville, Morris, Holloway and end in Appleton at the Swift County Fairgrounds.

According to the schedule, the ride will arrive in Morris about 3:30 p.m. for a short stop at the Morris Armory. Riders will depart from the Armory for Appleton at 4:15 p.m.

There will be live bands in Appleton starting at 6 p.m. with the Killer Hayseeds, followed by Maiden Dixie starting at 9:30 p.m.

The bike tour was started to honor Staff Sgt. David Day, Sgt. Jesse Lhotka and 1st Lt. Jason Timmerman who died in Iraq on Feb. 21, 2005. The money raised is used to fund raffles, to provide scholarships for soldiers and their families, and to support the Camp Ripley Disabled Veterans Deer Hunt and the Deployed Soldiers Pheasant Hunt.
