Mahnomen County (Minn.) Sheriff's Deputy Chris Dewey is expected to leave Craig Hospital, a rehabilitation hospital outside of Denver sometime next week, according to his wife, Emily, who released the information through a hospital spokesman.

Chris Dewey was shot in the head and abdomen about a year ago after he confronted two men on a call of shots having been fired.

He underwent a number of surgeries and is now undergoing intense rehabilitative physical therapy.

Craig Hospital did not release specific information about Dewey's anticipated discharge and, according to the hospital, Emily Dewey has indicated she is not granting interviews at this time.
