Marcella Schroeder, age 84, of Fairfax, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at the Fairfax Community Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with interment in the church cemetery, in Cairo Township, Renville County. Pastor Scott Muske will officiate. Arrangements by Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax.
Marcella Amanda (Freyholtz) Schroeder was born on Nov. 13, 1924, in Wellington Township, Renville County. She was the daughter of Franz and Anna (Grosam) Freyholtz. Marcella was baptized as an infant on Nov. 30, 1924, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 21, 1937, both at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax. She attended St. John Lutheran School in Fairfax.
On Oct. 2, 1943, Marcella was united in marriage to LeRoy Schroeder in Colorado Springs, Colo. After their marriage the couple resided in Fairfax. This union was blessed with six children and they shared 32 years of marriage before LeRoy passed away on April 20, 1976.
Marcella was employed as a waitress for many years for the City of Fairfax and the VFW.
Marcella was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Senior Citizens in Fairfax.
Marcella enjoyed sewing, embroidering, baking cookies and banana bread for her grandchildren. In later year's, she traveled to visit her grandchildren.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Marcella became a resident of the Fairfax Community Home on September 29, 2009. Blessed be her memory.
Marcella is survived by her children, James L. Schroeder and his wife, Linda of New Ulm, Judy A. Bemmels and her husband, Robert of Andover, Roger C. Schroeder of Lafayette, Dennis E. Schroeder and his wife, Karen of Hancock, Barbara J. Buboltz and her husband, Glenn of New Ulm, and Brenda K. Wiethoff and her husband, Kent of Fairfax; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Franz and Anna Freyholtz; Husband, LeRoy Schroeder; Granddaughter, Kari Kay Huiras; and Grandson, Scott Schroeder.
