Marie R. Rinehart, 94, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.
Marie R. Lex was born to John and Viktoria (Friesl) Lex on Sept. 4, 1913 in Mankato, Minn., where she grew up and received her education. On Jan. 18, 1936 she married Lester Rinehart in Mankato, where they lived until moving to Detroit Lakes in 1955.
Marie was a gentle and caring person who had a generous spirit. Her artistic talents could be seen in the many things she created. She will be remembered for her constant smile. Marie liked to sew and read. She also enjoyed coffee with family and friends.
Surviving Marie are her son, Marvin (Carol) Rinehart of Kranzburg, S.D.; two daughters, Shirley (Robert) Lund of Detroit Lakes and Carol (Al) Holland of Owatonna, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Paula Lex
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Lester (1987); one son, Gene Rinehart; one grandson; four brothers, Hunz, Louie, Charlie and Heini Lex; and two sisters, Victoria Olson and Fran Strueber.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. Marie's grandchildren served as casket bearers. Burial was in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
