Renville County Sheriff Jerry Agre said the suspect, identified as Matthew Thomas Fahey, 25, was arrested at 4 p.m. at his Marshall apartment. He could be charged as early as today.

According to Agre, the girl left home around 6:15 a.m. to complete her paper route. When the girl failed to return home at her usual time, her mother went out to look for her and found her abandoned bicycle. The girl's mother placed a call to the sheriff's office at 7:58 a.m.

Some 40 minutes later, the girl called her mother.

She said she had jumped out of a man's car after he had tried to abduct her.

The girl was located around 8:40 a.m. in Brown County, about 10 miles south of Fairfax.
