MBA Storm girls start out with win at Litchfield

The Morris Benson Area girls' hockey team started the season on a winning note with a 5-2 win over Litchfield/ Dassel-Cokato Tuesday on the road.

Tonight the Storm play defending state champs Alexandria on the road.

Litchfield got on the board in the first period on a power play, but the Storm took the lead when Dani Schultz scored two goals in the second period. The first unassisted goal was just seconds into the period. Near the end of the period, Schultz scored off assists from Brooke Anderson and Katia Vantries.

After Litchfield tied it up in the third, the Storm added three more goals in under two minutes.

Sara Rajewsky broke the tie with an unassisted goal midway through the final period.

Schultz scored her third of the night with an assist from Sam Falk.

Falk scored on her own a minute later.

The Storm were called for four penalties, while Litchfield was sent to the box three times.

The Storm out shot Litchfield 43-15.

Brooke Falk was in the net for the Storm. She recorded six saves in the first period, five in the second, and two in the third.
