Memorial Day service at Lakeside Cemetery near Hancock
A Memorial Day service will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock on Monday, May 28, at 10 a.m. The cemetery board along with the Hancock Ministerial hope to present a program that will not only inspire but also challenge those who attend to an even greater appreciation of what it means to be an American.
Chad VerSteeg, on behalf of the armed services, and Pastor Jackie Harvestine, on behalf of the Hancock Ministerial, will be the speakers. Also recognized will be those who have given so much so that we can live in and enjoy the freedom that was and is being guarded by men and women serving in the armed services. This event will serve as a reminder to all of the great debt owed to those who have gone before.
A quote taken from Joseph Stalin, a name all hopefully recognize: "America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold; its petroleum, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within." On Memorial Day, remember why we are here and honor those who helped make it all possible.
In case of inclement weather the services will be held at the Hancock Public School and will be announced over KMRS - KKOK. Coffee and donuts will once again be served. Donations for the upkeep of the cemetery can also be given at this time and are much appreciated by the cemetery board.
