Officials say 1,788,512 people attended the 12-day Great Minnesota Get-Together. That made it the second-best-attended Minnesota State Fair in history, but was nearly 2,000 shy of the total attendance record of 1,790,497 visitors set in 2009.

This year's fair also broke last year's attendance of 1,769,872 by more than 18,000 visitors.

Attendance for Labor Day, the last day of the 2012 fair, was 152,760.

The 2013 Minnesota State Fair will run Aug. 22 through Sept. 2.
