Minor combine fire in Darnen Township
The Morris Fire Department responded to a minor combine fire in Darnen Township at about 4:45 p.m on Monday.
Morris Fire Chief Doug Storck said when firefighters arrived the fire was mostly out already, they just needed to put some water on the machine to help cool it down. The department responded with 12 men and three trucks.
Storck said the new combine, owned by Paul and Larry Moser of Morris, was being used to pick beans, some of which got stuck and caught on fire.
However, Storck said the fire was minor and there was no loss of equipment or injuries.
"We're glad people were concerned enough to call instead of trying to just take care of it on their own," Storck said.
