MORRIS -- Morris Area agriculture teachers and FFA advisors Natasha Mortenson and Nick Milbrandt were honored with several awards at the Minnesota Association of Agriculture Educators winter conference in January.

Milbrant and Mortenson received the Outstanding Program award for Region III. Milbrandt also received the Outstanding Young Member for the region. This year, Milbrandt served as Region FFA Advisor and organizes regional CDE's and serves in multiple capacities at summer leadership conferences. This is his third year teaching at MAHS.

Mortenson received the Outstanding Teacher Mentor Award for the region. Mortenson was honored for her work with the Minnesota Teacher Induction Program and for organizing the Undergraduate Reception at the winter conference. Mortenson was praised for her willingness to work with other agriculture teachers in the region and state. Mortenson also co-presents for the Teachers Turn the Key program at the National Association of Agriculture Educators. She has also been a workshop presenter for food chemistry at many conferences where she is joined by MAHS science teacher Dylan Viss.

These awards are voted on by the other 18 agriculture teachers in the region. There are eight regions in Minnesota.
