Morris Area Community Education 022214
By Tony Reimers, Community Education Director
By the year 2020, there will be 65 million people living in the United States over the age of 65. In 2020, Minnesota will have more people over the age of 60 living in it than at any time in history. With improvements in healthcare and nutrition, people over the age of 60 will find many more years of productive pursuits. In Community Education, we are excited about these statistics!
One of our goals at Morris Area Community Education is to create a program that supports all residents. Research tells us that social activities, healthy living programs and classes, support groups, volunteer opportunities, and advocacy opportunities are needed for a healthy community of people over the age of 60.

Morris Area Community Education is offering 97 different classes during the winter and spring 2014 session. In 2013, we offered 96 different classes. What is even more impressive to me is that 28 of the 97 classes offered in 2014 were different from the classes offered in 2013.
At MACE, we want to hear from you! Do you have an idea for a class? Would you like to facilitate a class? Do you know someone who would like to facilitate a class or series of classes? If so, we want to hear from you. Please send me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org or give me a call at 320-589-4394. MACE would like to collaborate with you in your productive pursuits!
