Morris Area High School principal remains on leave of absence pending school board review

MORRIS – Morris Area High School Principal Craig Peterson will remain on a paid leave of absence while the Morris Area School District continues to collect information, Morris School Board Chair Kurt Gartland said Tuesday.

Peterson was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree in December 2013.

Last week, Stevens County Attorney Aaron Jordan filed paperwork to drop the charges after new evidence made it clear there is no longer sufficient evidence to proceed with the case.

At the school board’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Gartland offered the following statement regarding Peterson’s status: “The district will be collecting all information that is available to review and evaluate before moving forward. After that review the school board will make a determination about how to best proceed.”
