MORRIS - The Morris Area School District has hired seven new staff members at both the elementary and high school levels for the 2012 - 2013 school year.
Jill Beuckens is the new Speech-Language Therapist. She comes to Morris with 15 years of experience working with Early Childhood and Elementary students in the Alexandria school district. She also worked in geriatrics for the Knute Nelson Nursing Home. She lives in Hoffman with her husband, Kris, and their three children. She enjoys going to her children's activities, scrapbooking and reading.
Joe Boedigheimer will be teaching fifth grade. He graduated from Moose Lake High School and also from UMM. While in college Joe was in the varsity football and baseball programs. He was also in the global student teaching program which allowed him to student teach in Sydney, Australia. For the past three years, he taught middle school math at Tiospa Zina Tribal School. While there, he was also the defensive coordinator and head coach of the varsity football program.
Megan Ceballos is the new ELL teacher. She is originally from St. Cloud and graduated from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn. Megan lived in Montana for eight years and taught first and second grade grade.
Britney Greenwaldt is a new Science teacher and will be teaching eighth grade earth science, ninth grade physical science and tenth through twelfth grade earth and space science. She graduated from Morris high school and Bemidji State University. Britney played tennis for BSU for four years while a student there. She is co-coaching varsity tennis here at Morris.
Michelle Johnson will be teaching eleventh and twelfth grade English as well as pre-college English classes. She is originally from Rice Lake, Wisconsin and is a graduate of Winona State University. Michelle found solace in a good book amidst the constant battles with her three sisters over the bathroom and borrowing clothes. Michelle is an avid reader and lover of books, which guided her towards an English career.
Amanda Nygaard is the new FACS teacher. She grew up near Bertha, Minn. She is a graduate of North Dakota State University. She student taught at Wadena-Deer Creek. Amanda's hobbies include running and working out. While at NDSU she was a certified group exercise instructor and taught Pilates for three years. She also enjoys cooking, baking, sewing, hands on projects and surfing the internet in her spare time.
Katie VanKempen is the new eighth and ninth grade English teacher. She is a graduate of Morris Area High School and Minnesota State University Moorhead. Katie did her student teaching at Hawley High School and also served as the assistant speech coach. Katie will be coaching C-squad volleyball and hopes to help out in other areas throughout the school year.
