Morris Area named Yellow Ribbon Community

WILLMAR, Minn. -- The Morris area was officially recognized as a Yellow Ribbon Community at a ceremony in Willmar on Friday. Representatives of the Morris Area Yellow Ribbon Network have been working since November 2011 to put together an action plan designed to create awareness of the needs of service members from any branch of the military and their families and connect them with resources in the community. Four representatives of the steering committee attended the ceremony where Morris was recognized along with Appleton, Sauk Centre, Lac Qui Parle County and Renville County. Morris Police Chief Jim Beauregard, University of Minnesota, Morris Financial Aid Director Jill Beauregard, Morris City Manager and steering committee chair Blaine Hill, Stevens County Veterans Service Officer Hugh Reimers all participated in the ceremony.
