Morris Area Elementary School Principal Brad Korn, elementary teacher Muriel Lindback, high school English teacher Cathy Matthews and speech language pathologist Sharon Stock were recognized for their years of service on Wednesday.

More than 100 district staff were also on hand to thank two young teachers, Holly Bjorklund and Nate Anderson, for their service in the district.

Bjorklund, a second-year Family and Consumer Sciences teacher who also coached the district's FCCLA team, will be moving out of the district to be closer to her fiance and family. Anderson, a first-year science teacher, is looking for teaching and coach positions in Duluth and the Twin Cities to be closer to family.

Korn is retiring after 21 years as principal of Morris Area Elementary School. After traveling this summer and finishing a list of house projects, Korn plans to go pheasant hunting and, perhaps, look for work when he gets bored.

Lindback has been an elementary school teacher in the district for 29 years. Lindback plans to spend part of the summer in Morris, then move to Sauk Centre to be closer to family. Superintendent Scott Monson said Lindback doesn't plan to say goodbye, just "See you later."

Matthews, an English teacher in Morris for 26 years, plans to retire to Hutchinson with her husband. In a short speech, Matthews joked that she can't wait to spend time relaxing with a full pot of coffee and the newspaper with a full wardrobe of sweatpants.

After 25 years as a speech language pathologist, Stock plans to travel and work part time at the hospital during her retirement.
