Morris-area residents in PWP's 'Dearly Beloved'
Prairie Wind Players Community Theater opens its 31st season with the summer production of a comedy called Dearly Beloved.
The play, by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, is currently in rehearsal and features a cast of actors and production personnel from throughout West Central Minnesota, including cast and crew from the Morris area.
Performances are at the Barrett Roosevelt Hall June 24-26 at 7:30 p.m., and June 27 at 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday performances will include dinner theater, catered by Creative Catering. For reservations, call Tammy at (218) 731-0212.
Dearly Beloved takes place in the small town of Fayro, Texas and tells the story of the Futrelle sisters, formerly The Sermonettes, a gospel singing trio, who are planning the wedding of the twin daughter of the middle sister.
This scenario sets up all the humor of misunderstandings, tongues wagging, unexpected developments and stress. On top of that, there are a number of remarkably interesting characters, including a cantankerous wedding planner and a young preacher in training who moonlights as a UPS driver.
The cast includes Chuck Grussing, Mike Vandenberg and Margie Nelson from Morris, Sharon Thalmann, Christy Meier and Claudia Bursch from Alexandria, Curtis Deterding from Fergus Falls, Jan Nelson from Ashby, Alisha Gehrke from Elbow Lake, Leah Drexler from Norcross and Scott Banta from Cyrus.
The production is directed by Twig Webster from Morris; scenic design is by Tim Ray of Barrett; and costumes are by Shaune Wunder, also from Morris. Kathy Ray from Barrett is producer.
