Morris Area Schools celebrate Paraeducator Week
MORRIS, Minn. - The week of January 16 is Paraeducator Recognition Week. The role of a paraeducator, according to the National Resource Center for Paraeducators in Minnesota, is an employee:
1. Whose position is either instructional in nature or who provides other direct or indirect services to students and/or their families.
2. Who works under the supervision of a teacher or another professional staff member who has the ultimate responsibility for the design, implementation, and evaluation of education programs and related services.
The Morris Area School District employs several paraeducators. Each of these caring staff members does a variety of important things to help students. These paraeducators spend their day performing instructional tasks that include anything from helping with math and reading to teaching a student how to perform everyday tasks.
