Morris Area Tiger Sharks host finals

The Morris Area Tiger Sharks hosted the Northern Lights Swimming Association Conference A/B/C Finals on Tuesday, July 14 at the RFC.

Sixty swimmers from the Perham Lakes Area Penguins, Alexandria Swim Team, Fergus Falls Flyers, Northern Lights Swim Club, and Morris participated. Ten Local Tiger Sharks swimmers splashed in 38 individual events and two relays achieving two Zone, two Champ, two "B," and 10 "C" times according to the Minnesota State Time Standards.

Awards were also given out for top point finishers in each age category. Agnes Dieter was fourth place in the girls' 9-10-year-old category, Courtney Erickson took fifth place in the girls' 11-12-year-old category, Hannah Berg was third in the girls' 15-16-year-old category, Stefan Lemke was first in the boys' 15-16-year-old category, and Timm Uhlmann was third in the boys' 17-and-older age category.

Coaches Emma Roberts and Kelsey Greenwaldt were pleased with the efforts of all the swimmers who competed.

In the 100-yard free relay, the team of Julia Hoffmann, Bailey Lepage, and sisters Rachel and Courtney Erickson, swam for a time of 1:36.89.

In the 200-yard free relay, the team of Agnes Dieter, Hannah Berg, Brandon Pry, and Timm Uhlmann came in with a time of 2:19.44.

In the 8-year-old and under category, Teresa Boyd swam in her first ever Tiger Sharks meet. She swam in four 25-yard races in freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke with times of 33.04, 42.23, 44.64, and 50.61, respectively.

In the 9-10-year-old category, Agnes Dieter swam for a C time in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 43.83. She also swam the 50-yard backstroke and breaststroke and the 25-yard butterfly with times of 55.35, 1:04.86, and 28.07, respectively. Bailey Lepage swam the 50-yard freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke events with times of 54.85, 1:15.40, and 1:05.21, respectively. Rachel Erickson swam in the 50-yard freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke events, as well as the 25-yard butterfly event with times of 1:06.08, 1:04.51, 1:10.95, and 32.87 respectively. Julia Hoffmann swam in the 50-yard freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke events with times of 56.20, 1:17.92, 1:14.60, respectively. She also swam in the 25-yard butterfly event with a time of 33.07.

In the 11-12-year-old category, Courtney Erickson swam in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 47.09 and 1:54.09, respectively. She also swam in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.94 and in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.23

In the 15-and-over category, Hannah Berg swam for four C times in the 50-, 100-, and 200-yard freestyle events as well as the 100-yard IM event with times of 32.52, 1:12.55, 2:40.16, and 1:28.29, respectively. Brandon Pry swam for three C times in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events as well as the 100-yard breaststroke event with times of 33.95 and 1:11.34, and 1:31.04, respectively. Timm Uhlmann, in his first Tiger Sharks meet, swam for two B times in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 26.63 and 1:00.39. He also swam for two more C times in the 100-yard breaststroke and IM events with times of 1:25.09 and 1:13.61. Stefan Lemke swam in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events with zone times of 22.81 and 49.59, respectively. He also finished with two Champ times of 1:54.27 in the 200-yard freestyle and 5:10.17 in the 500-yard freestyle events.
