Morris Area's new teachers for 2010-11
Three new teachers will be working in the Morris Area School District this year.
Heidi Hoffmann is a new kindergarten teacher this year. Hoffman graduated from Minnewaska Area Schools and then attended Minnesota State-Moorhead and graduated in 2009 with a bachelor of science degree in Elementary Education. Hoffman was a student-teacher at Bennett Elementary in Fargo. She is continuing her education by taking graduate classes at MS-Moorhead to add a Certificate for English as a Second Language to her credentials. Hoffman was active in tennis and softball in high school and likes to spend her spare time outdoors with friends and family.
Holly Bjorklund is the new Family and Consumer Science (FACS) teacher at Morris Area High School. She attended Winona State and Minnesota State-Mankato, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science in 2009. Bjorklund was a student-teacher at Prior Lake High School and was also a long-term substitute there. She is an experienced volleyball coach and has spent several summers working with the University of Minnesota Extension 4-H in Sibley County.
Austen Miller will be a new 2nd grade teacher at MAES. He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School, where he was active in basketball and golf. He then attended Moorhead State, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science dgree in Elementary Education and Social Studies. Austen was previously employed in the LaCrescent School District where he was head coach of the boys golf team. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, walks with his wife, plays guitar and spends time with his seven nieces and nephews. Miller is also a self-proclaimed "computer technology nerd."
