Morris Auto Plaza moving to Alexandria
MORRIS, Minn. -- General Motors recently announced a new direction for the long-time Morris-based Morris Auto Plaza, and as a result, the dealership will be moving to Alexandria, Minn. in early 2014.
Changes have been a recurring theme within General Motors and its franchises since the company's restructuring in 2009. Most recently, GM changed the boundaries of Morris Auto Plaza’s area of primary responsibility after dealerships in Benson, Willmar, and Alexandria were closed. As a result, much of this part of the state was assigned to Morris Auto Plaza as their area of prime responsibility. One of GM’s ongoing concerns is keeping their franchises centrally located and with the new boundaries, Alexandria is at the heart of Morris Auto Plaza's service area.
Morris Auto Plaza owner Joel Krusemark said in a press release, “It is all just beginning to sink in. Moving is the single hardest thing I’ve had to face in all of our years in business. Our customers ARE our business. They are our friends, our neighbors, our family. I feel a huge commitment to them; always will. My proudest moments will be when I see them walk into our Alexandria location and can shake their hand. And thank them. That image chokes me up.”
Krusemark added, “Our first and foremost concern is our customers. With several employees commuting from the local area we are more than prepared to offer the same great service to our local customers via no-charge pickup and delivery service from Morris to our Alexandria location.”
With Morris Auto Plaza's relocation, Valu Ford & Chrysler will also be moving into the Morris Auto Plaza location.
Krusemark’s brother Tom owns Valu Ford.
“Change is difficult,” Tom stated in the press release. “It’s hard to believe that after twelve years of having two dealerships in Morris that we will now have only one facility. However, customers and staff will benefit with our move to the newly remodeled building. With this change our plan is to provide more – more conveniences, more hours, more customer service. For starters, we will be adding Saturday hours for service and parts in response to our customers’ needs. This is just one way we are committed to better serving our community,”
Joel and Tom Krusemark have owned dealerships in Morris, Elbow Lake and Alexandria.
