Morris Benson girls fall in a 6-4 Storm

The Morris Benson Area girls' hockey team had a lead after the first period, but Sartell-Sauk Rapids dominated in the second frame to hand the Storm a 6-4 road loss Thursday.

Junior captain Nikki Kothenbeutel led the way for the Storm'n Sabres, scoring five goals, including two power plays, a short-handed goal, and an open-net goal.

Dani Schultz got the Storm on the board two minutes into the game with an assist from Sam Falk.

Sara Rajewsky and Sam Falk scored less than 30 seconds apart to give the Storm a 3-2 lead in the first period. Rajewsky's goal was unassisted, while Schultz and Monica Lindblad were credited with assists on Falk's goal.

The Storm lost their advantage when Sartell/Sauk Rapids scored twice unanswered in the second period.

Down 5-3 late in the third period, Sara Rajewsky scored with assists from Falk and Schultz.

In an attempt to tie the game, the Storm pulled their goalie, giving Kothenbeutel the open-net shot.

Brooke Falk made 32 saves in the Storm's net. Sartell-Sauk Rapid's goalie recorded 27 saves.
