Morris boys are state bound

The Morris Area boys won the Section 6A Track and Field Meet Thursday and qualified for the state meet in 10 events.

The Tigers finished with 114 points at Minnesota State University - Moorhead. Pequot Lakes took second with 83 and Frazee was third with 66.

First-place relay teams and the top two individuals in each event advance to the state tournament at Hamline University June 5-6.

Two Tiger relay teams, consisting of Corey Nohl, Taylor Nohl, Matt Wulf, and Lincoln Arnold, will be running at the state meet. In the 4X200 relay, the boys took first place with a time of 1:32.35. They also won the 4X400 relay in 3:31.27.

Taylor Nohl also took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.28.

Cody Cannon won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.36.

Jackson Henrich placed first in the discus throw with a distance of 144 feet, 10 inches.

Henrich took second place in the triple jump with a distance of 39-10.

Cannon placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.90.

Arnold took second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.44 seconds.

Stefan Lemke placed second in two events. He finished the 800-meter run in 2:01.22 and the 1600-meter in 4:29.28.

Corey Nohl, Taylor Nohl, Wulf, Arnold, Cannon, Henrich, and Lemke will represent Morris Area at the state meet.

Many other Tigers placed at the section meet.

Josh Love took third place in the shot put with a throw of 45-5.5.

Cannon placed third in the pole vault with an 11-6.

Corey Nohl took third place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.47.

Henrich placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 44-11.5.

Cannon took fifth place in the triple jump with a 38-9.

Eric Goette placed sixth in the pole vault with an 11-6.
