Morris Eagles open season with W
The Morris Eagles took their first field trip of the 2014 baseball season to Canby on Sunday, May 18 for a beautiful afternoon of baseball against the Knights.
Morris jumped on the board early and never looked back, taking a 4-0 lead after two complete innings and taking the game 8-0.
Nate Haseman started on the mound for the Eagles and confused the Knights for six innings, giving up three hits and striking out four. Sam Mattson and Jake Torgerson got some innings in on the mound to close the game out just giving up one hit in relief.
The Eagles pounded out 13 hits with every Eagle getting a hit with Kirby Marquart and Nate Gades hitting home runs.
Next game for the Eagles is tonight against the Clinton Cards in Morris at 8 p.m. The Eagles actually host their next three games, counting tonights contest. Next Friday, May 30 the Eagles host the Appleton A’s at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, June 1, they play an afternoon game against the Minneota Mudhens at 2 p.m.
