Morris Eagles take lead in Land of Ducks league baseball
Morris pounded out 14 hits and Chad Christianson threw eight innnings without allowing an earned run to help the Eagles defeat the Coyotes in Chokio Wednesday night. The win put the Eagles in first place in the Land of Ducks League.
The Eagles are now 7-2 in the league for first place, followed by Chokio at 6-2 and Dumont at 5-2. The Eagles have defeated Chokio twice and Dumont once with another game coming later in the season.
The Eagles host Clinton Saturday at 2 p.m.
The game was shortened to eight innings when Mat Anderson hit a foul ball over the third base dugout that hit some wires and blew the lights out of two towers in the top of the ninth. The game continued for three more batters before the umpires called the game.
Cory Marquart and Matt Carrington led the Eagles with three hits apiece. Nine out of ten Eagles had hits in the game.
After making two errors in the first inning to allow two runs the Eagles played flawless defense the rest of the way.
Christianson finished with nine strike outs and only two walks in his complete game effort.
