John Calvin Inman, 80, was charged with gross misdemeanor after exposing himself to a minor in Morris on July 15.

Inman pled guilty to the charge on July 29 and was released pending a pre-sentence investigation.

A gross misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and/or a $700 fine.

The incident was the fourth related to indecent exposure involving Inman since January 2009.

He was charged with indecent exposure in a public place, and engaging in lewd/indecent behavior related to a Jan. 10, 2009 incident. Inman also was charged with indecent exposure in a public place on Jan. 19, 2009. He was convicted on two misdemeanor indecent exposure charges in March 2010.

Morris Chief of Police Jim Beauregard said it was important that the victims reported the incidents since such behavior can be a precursor to other offenses.

"It was happening to young (people), that's what concerned us," Beauregard said.
