Morris VFW started its summer baseball season with a win over Montevideo on Friday, June 6. Morris VFW then dropped three at the Cold Spring VFW Tournament last weekend that included a 8-7 loss to Willmar, but got revenge and won against Willmar on Tuesday, June 10 in a regular season contest in Morris.

Morris VFW stands at 2-3 and host Benson on Friday, June 13. Then, Morris VFW starts the road season on Tuesday, June 17, in Alexandria against Alex 15s.

Morris 10, Montevideo 0

Friday, June 6 was a day Brady Jergenson will remember forever as Brady threw a no-hitter in Morris VFW's 10-0 victory over Montevideo.

No Montevideo batters were able to locate Jergenson’s pitches during the game as he threw struck out 10 batters and walked four while recording his momentous feat.

Morris VFW's bats came to life in the fifth inning where they put up six runs. Morris VFW scored in the fifth on a two-run single by Denner Dougherty, a RBI single by Philip Anderson, a passed ball, and a two-run error.

Toby Sayles racked up two RBIs on one hit, singling in the third inning.

Montevideo’s Kanten was the losing pitcher. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed four runs.

Morris VFW stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring three runs on a sacrifice fly by Jergenson and a two-run single by Sayles.

Morris 9, Willmar 2

Jared Anderson and Robert Rohloff, the No. 5 and 6 hitters in Morris’ lineup, had four of the team’s five hits and combined to drive in seven runs Tuesday to help Post 5039 trip up Willmar 9-2.

Anderson and Rohloff both had two hits with Anderson knocking in four runs and Rohloff another three.

Sean Amundson scored three times and was also the winning pitcher as he worked all seven innings, surrendering six hits and three walks while striking out eight.
