Names released of two dead, one hurt in multi-vehicle crash near Cosmos, Minn.
COSMOS, Minn. -- Authorities have identified the two people killed in a three-vehicle crash Thursday on Minnesota Highway 7, approximately three miles east of Cosmos.
The Minnesota State Patrol identified the deceased as Christopher A. Dorholt, 50, of Bloomington and Ermand A. Schultz, 83, of Cosmos.
Also injured in the crash was Beverly A. Schultz, 79, of Cosmos.
The patrol said Dorholt was driving a semi truck eastbound on Highway 7 when the truck crossed the center line and sideswiped a westbound semi truck driven by William A. Schultz, 53, of Stillwater, and broadsided a car driven south on a private driveway by Beverly Schultz. Her passenger was Ermand Schultz.
The Meeker County Sheriff's Department identified Dorholt's truck as belonging to Moon Creek Ranch. The department also identified Schultz's truck as belonging to Conway Freight.
The patrol said Dorholt and Ermand Schultz were dead at the scene. Beverly Schultz was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis in critical condition.
The crash was reported to the patrol at 7:25 a.m. Authorities closed the highway for most of the day while rescue, fire and law enforcement crews were on the scene. The Meeker County Sheriff's Office said one of the semi tractors caught fire, causing extensive damage.
