Names of two deceased Verndale residents released

The Verndale Police Department released the names of two people found deceased in a residence Friday.

Steven Roger Hanebuth, 46, and Jeanie Marie Oconnor, 45, were found after the Verndale PD was called to do a welfare check. Authorities said foul play is not suspected, but a definitive cause of death has not been determined. The bodies were sent to the Twin Cities for autopsies. Preliminary results revealed no obvious signs of trauma and toxicology tests have been ordered.

The Verndale Police Department, Wadena County Sheriff's Department and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating.
