New season for Hancock Boy Scouts
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverend... Words to live by, from the Scouts of America. This is the new Push for Scouting Programming. Cub Scouts, specifically, is about building a tighter bond between boys and their adult partners, having fun, learning lots of cool stuff, gaining new experiences, practicing reverence to God, and preparing boys to become Boy Scouts.
Pack 473, of Hancock, is about to begin a new year. New families are always welcome to join scouting, but we're going to make it as easy as possible in the month of September. Boys in grades 1 through 5 are invited, with at least one parent, to attend our sign-up night on September 17. Someone will be at the Community Center, on 6th Street, from 5 to 8 p.m. Stop by for a quick visit, and SIGN UP!
Apart from that, there will be a parent meeting on September 23 at 7 p.m. Present members of the pack (of the adult persuasion), as well as new and/or interested parents should attend. We'll be discussing some leadership issues, among other things.
On September 27, the Pack will be going to Benson to learn some about archery, and test our new skills. Our time there, begins at 3:30 p.m. on that Sunday afternoon. The Swift County Archers are rumored to be a lot of fun, great with the boys, and very knowledgeable. It'll be a blast.
Other events in the near future include a Fun Day on October 4 and Pinewood Derby on October 18. Anyone interested in joining or helping should stop by the Community Center on Sept. 17, or contact Chris Morris at 589-9925.
