New VA outpatient clinic opening Oct. 5 in Alexandria

The St. Cloud VA Medical Center will officially open its new Alexandria Community Based Outpatient Clinic at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the clinic at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5. Tours of the clinic will follow the ceremony and VA staff will be onsite to answer veteran questions and to take applications for enrollment for VA health care.

The clinic, at 515 22nd Avenue NE in Alexandria, will offer primary health care and mental health care to veterans in central Minnesota, and specialty care referrals to the VA Medical Centers in St. Cloud and Minneapolis. Other services to be provided include social work, clinical pharmacy, laboratory and nutrition services. Home-based primary care will also be available for eligible veterans who live within a 40-mile radius of the clinic and who have difficulty leaving their homes to receive their VA care.

VA will staff the clinic with 16.7 full-time equivalent staff members. Clinic hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The clinic's phone number is (320) 759-2640.
