MINNEAPOLIS - New London-Spicer won its second state title in three years with a 62-52 victory over Crosby-Ironton in the Class AA boys basketball championship at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Jayme Moten scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, to pace the Wildcats (31-2). Erik Tengwall had 16 points and seven assists and Aaron Johnson Johnson had 11 points.
NLS built a 34-22 halftime lead, but the Rangers rallied to close within 49-47 with less than three minutes left in the game. But the Wildcats thwarted the comeback bid.
NLS also won the Class AA state football title this past fall with many of the same players tha are on the basketball team.
Mark Hoge led Crosby-Ironton (29-2) with 27 points.
